Header image of the article: "How to Achieve Your Dreams When You’re Scared". Tips to reach your dreams despite being scared.

All of us dream! We dream when we’re asleep, every night, and we dream when we’re awake, every day. The only difference between the night and day they dream, lies in our awareness. People have unconscious dreams and desires that usually stay hidden for a long, long time...

However, these dreams often come out to the surface, and that’s when the real problems begin.

A person who consciously commits to pursuing his dreams is often challenged by his fears.

The fear of failure, the fear of success, and the lack of self-esteem are the primary causes for which lots of dreams end up in the “graveyard of dreams” – the biggest possible graveyard out there.

So what do you do? You get scared, you give up, and then…you feel disappointed(!). Well, in order to accomplish whatever you want in life and avoid the package of negative feelings, you need to focus on what’s important first, and that is your mindset.

Besides your mindset that needs to keep growing, you can still take several actions that’ll move you closer to the dreams you’re chasing despite being scared.

In today’s post, we’re giving you a few ideas on how to achieve your dreams when you're scared. Pay attention and try your best to apply as much as you possibly can:

How to Achieve Your Dreams When You’re Scared

1. Ask Yourself All Possible Questions

You might have a dream in your mind. You know you want it bad, you know that it’s out there for you to accomplish, but something stands in your way.

Well, your first job is to find out what that something is.

Begin this process by taking a blank piece of paper and a pen. Take a deep breath, and start brainstorming all the possible challenges that are about to arise once you begin.

This way, you are already preventing the things that might bring you down later.

Here’s an example:

  • What is my biggest fear concerning my dream?
  • What am I going to do when X problem arises?
  • Am I afraid to be truly successful?
  • Am I really aligned with my goals, both emotionally and physically (action)?
  • What external elements and factors I need in order to accomplish my dream?

These questions are just a way for you to understand the basics. Depending on what you want to accomplish, you should brainstorm and customize different questions, in order to deliver the necessary answers.

2. Understand the Nature of Your Fear

I’m talking a lot about fear, because this is the single most daunting emotion that shows up to everyone who wants to make progress.

When the dreams are big, there are significant chances for fear to show up at your doorstep.

Still, you need to figure out which type of fear arises. For example, there’s the most common fear: the fear of failure. People are extremely afraid of failing, like failing would be something crucially bad.

Then, there’s the fear of success. Believe it or not, fear of success is a big challenge for those who seek their dreams. Rooted in their subconscious minds, some individuals might be afraid that they’re life is going to change dramatically once their goals are achieved. Along with that change, some aspects of their present lives will disappear.

Therefore, the subconscious mind will keep saying “no, I still want that X thing in my life”.

You need to identify that X thing and make peace with it.

Otherwise, you’ll never know what’s dragging you down.

3. Become Focused and Committed

While you’re working on your mindset, you have to adopt different attitudes towards your dream.

To tell you the truth, achieving great things without cultivating the power of focus is almost impossible.

Moreover, without emotional commitment, even the smallest problems will put you down. The secret to success?

Consistent hard and smart work.

4. Develop Your Roadmap

When you want to reach a destination, you usually need a roadmap.

Let’s take an example: You want to go to Madrid, but you’re living in Holland. You never traveled to Spain before, but you need to get to a place, immediately. Do you start the road without a GPS? Without a roadmap? Without anything to guide you? I bet you won’t.

You have a dream. You want to reach it as soon as possible. Do you start without a roadmap? You can’t. Therefore, start planning all the necessary actions that need to be taken. Imagine everything that you can imagine, and address all the possibilities.

5. Create a Plan of Great Habits

In order to achieve your dream faster, you need to cultivate productive habits. Start with one, then go for two, then for three, and so on.

Most of the successful people suggest that their big success came from positive habits.

If you never felt the power of a constructive habit, I’d really suggest waking up at 5 a.m. each day for 30 days in a row.

6. Take Action!

Action, action, action. Without taking consistent action, all of your planning, organizing, and mindset won’t do a thing.

You really need to set things in motion.

You can’t stop working until what you want to accomplish is finally accomplished.

Don’t waste your time (!) thinking about what you’re going to do. Yes, you need to plan your roadmap, habits, and you need to develop your mindset.

Still, without consistent action, all of it might be in vain.

7. Takeaways

Since the beginning of times, people are chasing their most diverse dreams. Some of them make it while some of the don’t. You? Well, you’re the one who decides on which side you’re going to be.

Achieving big dreams won't become a reality without hustle, work, and time.

Moreover, you need to cultivate your patience and you need to stay perseverant.

More often than not, you’ll fail miserably. If you’re serious about your dream, you’ll get back up and start working again. And then you might fail again. What then? You keep going until you are a winner regardless of being scared. Good luck!
